Detroit Style Deep Dish Pizza - Dinner Recipe

Updated: Jul 26, 2023

Detroit-style pizza is remarkable in that it is topped with low-fat-part skim mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and garlic ranch sauce and has a lacy, crispy cheese crust all the way around the edges.

"Detroit Style Pizza is one of my favorite pizza recipes to make because the bread is soft and it has a thick, crispy crust topped with my favorite toppings of choice. Easy and delicious dinner recipe"

Yield: 6 SERVINGS

Prep Time: 10 MINUTES

Cook time: 30 MINUTES

Total time: 40 MINUTES

Cuisine: American

Category: Lunch/Dinner

Ingredients:

+ Pizza dough ( preferably a few days old so it's well fermented)

+ pizza sauce ( I used garlic ranch sauce)

+ pepperonis

+ sausage

+ jalapeños

+ pine apple (optional)

+ low fat part skim mozzarella cheese

+ three cheese mix

+ 1tbsp. of oil

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. or 200 degrees Celsius.

2. Using your Pyrex, cover the bottom of the pan with some oil. Spread the oil evenly on the bottom of your pan, and then you will need to even cover the bottom of the pan with the corn meal.

3. Place your dough inside the pan and start spreading it to the edges.

4. Spread the sauce over the whole pizza using a spatula. Add the mozarella cheese on top of the sauce.

5. Add your toppings. First your meats of choice, ours being pepperoni and sausage, then our veggies like jalapenos and pineapple. Then the last layer is one more layer of the three-cheese mix.

6. Bake the pizza for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cool it down before serving. It will be hot.

Note: Use a 10-inch cast iron skillet instead if you can't find a traditional Detroit pizza pan or a Pyrex. Although you might not need quite as much dough, it should be close. Additionally, if you don't have a Wisconsin brick cheese, you can substitute it with a low-fat part-skim mozzarella cheese and add some shredded cheese, like a three-cheese mix.
